Wynnstay Clamp

Wynnstay_Clamp.jpg

Wynnstay Clamp delivers 1 million lactic acid-producing bacteria per gramme of grass, resulting in a fast and controlled fermentation with little protein breakdown. This produces nutritionally better and more palatable silage, increased intakes and improved animal performance. Don’t take chances with your silage – use Wynnstay Clamp to ensure fast and stable fermentation.

Better quality silage every time
This table shows the results of trials carried out at the Welsh Plant Breeding Station, with forage at around 20% dry matter with 2% sugars. Samples were taken for analysis 6 weeks after ensiling, the results show the poor fermentation of the untreated silage and the difference Clamp additive made.

Treated with Clamp additive Untreated
Dry Matter (%) 21.7 19.4
pH 3.8 4.5
Ammonia-N (%Total N) 4 10.4
Crude Protein (%) 18.7 19.4
Lactic Acid (% of DM) 7.8 2.5
ME (MJ/kg DM) 10.7 10.3

28% more protein retained
The efficient fermentation achieved with Wynnstay Clamp protects proteins from fermentation breakdown. In trials at IGER livestock digested 28% more of the protein in Clamp additive treated silage when compared with untreated silage.

Improves milk production efficiency
Trials at Wye College demonstrated that cows fed silage treated with Clamp additive gave an extra 19 litres of milk per tonne of silage, compared to those fed untreated silage.

Milk Yield 4.4% better
Milk Protein % 3.0% better
Milk Protein Yield 6.8% better
Milk Fat % No change
Liveweight Gain 4kg better

32% Increase in liveweight gain
In trials at Liscombe, Clamp additive increased beef cattle liveweight gains by as much as 32% over animals fed untreated silage. Feed conversion was 26% better and the extra liveweight gained over the 99 day trial period averaged 19kg.

Intake improved by 5%
All trials demonstrate the greater palatability of Wynnstay Clamp treated silage with increased intakes and animal performance. Trials with beef cattle at Liscombe compared Clamp and two other leading silage additives with untreated silage and found that Clamp increased intakes by 5%.

30% reduction in effluent
Compared with untreated silage, effluent was reduced by 30% when Clamp additive was used in trials at Kingshay. When compared with silage treated with formic acid, Clamp additive treated silage-effluent was reduced by 55%.

Packaging & application rates
Wynnstay Clamp is packed in boxes of four sachets, each sufficient to treat 25 tonnes of forage when mixed with water and applied at 2 litres per tonne.
