Wynnstay announce chief executive designate:
Wynnstay Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Ken Greetham as Chief Executive designate, to succeed Managing Director, Bernard Harris. Ken will formally take up the position of Chief Executive on 21 May 2008 from Bernard Harris, who will be retiring after 28 years with the business.

Ken, aged 48, has over twenty-five years’ experience in the agricultural supply industry and is currently General Manager of Wynnstay’s Agriculture Division. Whilst at Wynnstay, Ken has been highly involved in the execution and development of the twin track growth strategy, acting as a consolidator within the agricultural distribution sector and, at the same time, extending consumer retailing activities.
Ken has in-depth knowledge of the strategic development of agricultural businesses. In 1987, he established Shropshire Grain Farm Supplies, one of Wynnstay’s first Joint Ventures. The Joint Venture was a major success, helping Wynnstay in its strategic aim of developing an arable presence throughout Shropshire and the West Midlands. Over the next 10 years, fertiliser and seed sales in this area increased very substantially under his leadership.
Following the integration of Shropshire Grain into Wynnstay in 1997, Ken joined Wynnstay and in 2001, took on responsibility for the newly formed Arable Division, building a substantial division which now contributes over £40m towards Wynnstay’s turnover and is a key component of the success Wynnstay has enjoyed in recent years.
Commenting on the appointment, Chairman, John Davies, said,
“On behalf of Wynnstay, I am delighted to welcome Ken Greetham to the Board as Chief Executive designate. Ken takes over on 21 May from Bernard Harris who is retiring after 28 years.
“I am confident that Ken is the right man for the job. He has an intimate knowledge of our business and has played a major role in the Group’s successful development over many years, helping our business to go from strength to strength.
“We all look forward to working with Ken in his new position. I am confident that he will lead Wynnstay to an exciting and prosperous future, as we move forward with our twin track approach to growth, consolidating the agricultural supply sector and developing exciting new retail opportunities.”
Ken Greetham commented,
“I am very excited to be taking up the post of Chief Executive in May. Bernard has led Wynnstay’s impressive growth during a period of great changes in the agriculture sector and I am looking forward to continuing to build on this success.
“Wynnstay has great potential both to act as a consolidator in the agricultural supply sector and to develop its retail activities and I look forward to working with the team to develop these opportunities.”
