Government Feed-in-Tariff Scheme

The Government Feed-in Tariff Scheme was introduced in the UK in April 2010 to encourage people to generate electricity from renewable sources by offering financial support. The FIT’s scheme allows you to benefit in three ways;

1. You are paid by your electricity supplier for each unit of electricity generated, and once you join the tariff is fixed for 25 years
2. You will receive a further 3p/KWH from your electricity supplier for each unit you do not use and export back on to the grid
3. You make savings on your electricity bills and protect yourself from future energy price rises

This scheme provides an ideal opportunity to generate a substantial income for the next 25 years through installing small or large scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.

NOTE: It is expected that from 1st August 2011 the Government will significantly reduce tariffs for installations over 50kWp in size.
