2011 Early Season Review of UK Grass Silage Mineral Status
Key Points
- As always, there are distinctive mineral trends related to seasonal factors
- The key feature of 2011 grass silage is undoubtedly the recovery of Phosphorus levels from the 2010 low point. This year, every 1% of Phosphorus in a mineral supplement costs approximately £24/tonne
- While Potassium remains high, antagonistic pressure on Copper availability from Iron and Molybdenum will be slightly up this year in some forages
- Calcium levels continue to rise
