arable / grain marketing:
Shropshire Grain was founded in 1980, and steadily increased its share of the grain market so that it soon became the leading independent merchant in the area. After a long-standing and successful relationship, Wynnstay eventually acquired Shropshire Grain in 1997. The company is now the specialist grain market arm of Wynnstay Arable.

Growers and estates of all sizes are advised in confidence on the fluctuations of the grain trade, the complexities of the CAP reform and EU legislation, and increasingly on the outside influences, which affect the marketing of crops.
All combinable crops are handled. With a new purpose built and fully equipped laboratory, the company specialises in the professional matching of grain samples with the best outlets, most obviously in trading of milling wheat and malting barley, but generally in going to that extra trouble to find the optimum outlet for each individual sample.

As grain production levels continue to increase we are able to offer access to major outlets, including the in house feed mills with production in excess of 300,000 tonnes. Shropshire Grain provide farmers in the west midlands with an independent service and professional marketing backed by the financial security of Wynnstay, one of the most successful agricultural businesses in the UK.
